ARTmania Festival Sibiu 2015 on 31 Jul 2015

Location: Sibiu Apocalyptica (FI), Anathema (UK), Clan of Xymox (DE) and Saturnus (DK), are the first clues for the 10th edition of ARTmania Festival. The festival follows its structure with the main concerts taking place between July 31st and August 1st, in a new location that will be announced shortly. For now, here are the first confirmations: Apocalyptica will perform live for the first time on ARTmania’s stage on Saturday, August 1, 2015, as the main headliner. From their epic take on Metallica's ‘Enter Sandman’, ‘The Unforgiven’ and ‘Nothing Else Matters’, as well as Sepultura's ‘Refuse/Resist’, they have proven their re-orchestration talent keeping the songs’ spirit intact, while creating a new metal sound unlike anything in musical history. In a world of musical nostalgia dominated by an avalanche of recycled ideas, few bands can be called unique, and Apocalyptica is one of them. The Finns continue to prove that rock music has nothing do to with the instruments played, but the attitude. Their eighth album will be released this spring will be played during the Sibiu concert. ‘Shadowmaker’ is a harmonically-rich combination of cellos and drums, with fast paces and tempo shifts, a crescendo that gives shivers to the listener. The distorted cello riffs are heavier than ever, while classical music interchanges with fragments of heavy metal, for an unmatchable acoustic experience. Vincent, Jamie Cavanagh, Daniel, & Co. are returning to Sibiu to celebrate ten years of unforgettable experiences and concerts together with the ARTmania audience. ‘Distant Satellites’, their latest album, is the summit of everything ANATHEMA has been working on until now. It features almost every conceivable element of Anathema’s music: beauty, intensity, drama, serenity, hope, and an extra musical dimension that the band has previously only hinted at, that becomes clear for the first time. Anathema has last played at ARTmania Festival in 2007, when Sibiu was the European Capital of Culture and the festival was celebrating its second edition. Clan of Xymox is one of the first supporters of the dark-wave style. Their music is a blend of synth pop, dark-wave and gothic rock. The band has gone through many musical changes during their three decades of existence, enjoying an increased popularity in the 80’s, with singles featured in mainstream Billboard charts. Their ‘Imagination’ music video was in heavy rotation on MTV, while their 2011 single ‘In Your Arms Again’ was included on David Fincher’s ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ movie soundtrack. Saturnus, one of the most inspiring and widely recognized names in the melodic doom metal genre joins ARTmania Festival for the first time. Established in 1991, in Copenhagen, Denmark, the band is well known for its unique approach, the vocal style switching between clean, growl and recitation, and also for their powerful emotions, taking the listener through a simultaneously deep-toned, melancholic and dramatic journey.
